Started with chiropractic treatments again.  See if they help my headaches this go around.  They didn't in the past, they are trying a new treatment method.  Something I have never experienced before.  Any ways my lower back has been bothering me as well and I figure, this could kill two birds with one stone.
Susan and I both finished up with our dental appointments for another year, yesterday.  We also managed to finish the front yard work.  Just one more appointment in the big city for me this morning, and we should be ready to go back to God's country!  Well that's providing her car is ready, first it was supposed to be ready by yesterday morning.  Then it was going to be ready by noon yesterday, then by this morning.  Then they called us late yesterday and said they were working on having it ready for us by noon today!  We shall see, if I made my delivery appointments like that, I would have been, without a job, and out of business within a week!  Why is it truck drivers, are always expected to make up for everyones lost time?  And no one else is held accountable, for there commitment to their delivery of service?  Just thinking out loud!!!  As a last resort I suppose we could take the pick-up, but the difference in fuel, oh my God!
So I guess if this is what God has decided my day should be all about, then there is no use fretting about it.  Once we get Susan's car back, it is just a matter of loading it up.  Then we shall be off to the lake to spend the rest of the day with Nathan, Nicole, Boots, and Baby "M"!  Oh, and the evening and the next morning.  Until they have to return to the big city, and visit Nathan's family.  In the mean time Susan and I can help them Build some great memories of their own.  After all this is part of Building the Simple life..............................

Thursday, 30 August 2012

Good morning, sun is up medication is in the blood stream, and I am just waiting for the love of my life to pull herself out of bed.  It's hot-tub time!  Should be a great way to start the day, we can enjoy each others company, and plan out what needs to be done today.  For starters, I think there is chilly that needs to go into the slow cooker for the lake.  I believe I will take the weed eater around the front yard, and then give the lawn a hair cut!
If there is any time left this morning, I will sort out some more things to go out in the recycle bin.  Otherwise it will be time for Susan and I to walk down to pick up her car from the body shop by noon. After which it will be time to head for the city, I have two dentist appointments starting at 1pm.  Then at 3:30 pm I have another chiropractor appointment.  Talk about a busy day.
Tomorrow morning my last appointment is booked for 9:30 am, when we are finished with that one all we have to do is stop at home, load the car with some groceries, and then we are off to God's country!  Talk about a long week!!!!
Susan is up!  It's hot-tub time!!!  Decisions have been made on how the day should progress.  I shall go out and finish with the weed eater right after breakfast, and then finish up with the lawn mower on the front lawn.
Meanwhile Susan will get the chile going and do some vacuuming in the house, then check to see if we have any outdoor paint left.  There is some trim that needs some attention on the back garage as well as the south doors off of the patio.
Just had an update from Nicole at God's Country, it seems that Boots expects to be fed at least a dozen times a day.  Hum, I wonder who's fault this could be?  Oh well, I am sure they will retrain him (Boots).  It also seems that every time Nathan goes in or out the door Boots has to lead the way, he is not going to be left behind again. He misses his "Daddy"!
There has been a lot accomplished by the two of us this week!  We did not get every thing checked off of our list, but then Rome wasn't built in a day....  Enough was accomplished for Susan to enjoy the remainder of her vacation time at the lake.  Spend some time with baby "M" in the making, Friday night at the camp fire, enjoying some smores.  This is what we call having a great time Building the Simple Life...........................

Wednesday, 29 August 2012

So good morning, Susan and I have now tamed the jungle that had overtaken our back yard!  Today I shall take the weed eater around one last time and get the spots I missed, then follow this up with the lawn mower.
This morning Susan has to take her car to the local auto body shop to have some body repair done to her car hood.  Small chunks of concrete fell off of a local delivery truck coming off of the highway and did some minor damage, finally it's getting repaired.
After the back yard work is done it will be time to concentrate on the front garage!  Finish cleaning some old shelves, and there removal.  Organize our next load for the lake, for some reason I have Derek's satellite dish at my house, as well as our shared smoker!  Now that we have everything organized and stored properly at the lake, it ( the smoker) can definitely be stored there all year round.  I find it simply amazing that one can accumulate such an amazing assortment of nuts, bolts, screws, etc in ones life!  What to keep?  What to throw out?  Down sizing!  Such a dilemma!  So if it can be recycled it goes in one pile, if it goes to value village in another pile, garbage another pile and so on...... until it is done!  We have had the children threw the house, with the big question is there anything you want?  Of course there are certain things that each child would like, later in life.  But we are still here, so they will have to wait.  My attempt at humour this early in the morning!! lol...
Nicole has been keeping me up dated on the progress of Boots the cat!  And what do I see is, is a picture of him sprawled out upside down on face book! OMG, what did you do to the poor guy over work him to try and loose some weight?  Nope, he was outside all morning with his friends and now is all worn out and needs his rest (beauty rest)!!!!  So it appears he doesn't miss me at all,  as long as there is someone there to keep his food and water dish full, HUMmm.
At four pm Susan and I have more Dr appointments after we shall return home, rest in the hot tub and plan our next move at Building the Simple life................................

Tuesday, 28 August 2012

Oh what a day, more stuff sorted and gone through!  After the hot tub this morning,  and yes I forgot what the experience was all about.  I decided it was time for the annual fall cleaning.  This consists of draining the water, washing the hot tub down, and cleaning the filter.  Followed by installing the cleaned filter, and replacing the drained water with, clean, fresh, sparkly new water.  How can you tell I might have done to much today.
We pulled a bunch of weeds in the back yard today.  Tomorrow I shall bring out the big weed eater and take it around, hopefully for the last time for this season!
Susan is off to the big city to pick up her car, annual maintenance schedule to be done and some factory recalls that needed to be taken care of.  Hopefully she shall return home soon.  I must say she has been doing a marvellous job of cleaning up in the front garage.  Hopefully I will be able to help her sort a few things tomorrow, and then we can check this job off of our to do list!
I just checked the hot tub temp., and if it keeps rising on schedule, perhaps Susan and I could get some enjoyment out of it this evening after supper.  This would be great to help relax the aching muscles, as we discuss the next days plans for Building the Simple life.......................................

Monday, 27 August 2012

Oh yes, arrived home yesterday, cut the hay field and removed some weeds.  I noticed that a family of robins were bathing themselves in the puddles up and down the alley.  I also noticed that several sparrows were brave enough to continue harvesting seeds off of the grass, while I cut it right next to them.  Surely Mr Boots would of had a heart attack if he would have observed this.  Thank God he is at the lake, enjoying his remaining vacation time with Nathan and Nicole!
Today I start the the torture time in the dentist chair, one of many just to replace fillings that have fallen out.  The torture is not having the work done, it's having to pay our portion after what is not covered by insurance.  Talk about legalized highway robbery!  Ever wonder why dentists seem to be located at the most expensive real-estate money can buy?  Perhaps if they  were located in less expensive areas we could have more affordable dental care, just thinking out loud...
When we left the lake yesterday we got a phone call from Nicole asking if we had taken her power cord for her phone, in fact we did!  Lucky we were only five minutes out so one u-turn and we were on our way back.  Unlucky for us, when I was putting the lawn mower away, I noticed Susan had a nearly flat tire on her car.  I think she may have picked something up from her u-turn off the shoulder.  Lucky thing we still have "Dad's" pick-up!
We spent the late afternoon and early evening with our son and daughter-in-law and two of our granddaughters.  Oh yes we also skyp'd with the third granddaughter and her other half in Kelowna, before we returned home.
This was definitely enough for me for the day, now to slowly get today underway, and start tackling that imaginary list.  It's still not done, one just has to look outside!  Or go for a walk about to see the little things that need to be done.  Susan made a big start on the garage yesterday, while I was working in the yard.  So we will continue with the little things in the garage, perhaps get all the recycling returned today.  This would clear up a big space, declutering is very important when it comes to the selling of ones home!  This also gives us time to talk and plan, today I think I will probably be listening!  Considering the dentist, my attempt at humour!  Yes, some planning for Building the Simple life...................

Sunday, 26 August 2012

Well, this morning when Boots tried to wake me up, I turned the tables on him.  I captured him and held him hostage for the better part of twenty minutes explaining to him that I was leaving this morning!  I am not to sure he was very happy with this situation, being captured or me leaving.  probably the part about being denied his first breakfast for an additional twenty minutes or so, was stressing him out the most!  Anyways he has now been fed his first rations and is now out on patrol earning his keep.
The transition of the changing of the guard started yesterday and it only took a few seconds for Boots to find Nathan's lap to lay on even if he wasn't sitting in Boots' favourite chair!  Though I do have to admit when Nathan was not sitting he definitely was on Nicole's lap!  He apparently misses his mommy and daddy!
Whenever, Susan pulls herself out of bed this morning, we shall leave for home to get ready for all the appointments that we must go to this week.  Did I tell you I hate dentist's!  The last one being Friday morning, and then we shall return to God's Country for the long weekend!  Let's hope for a dry weekend as we would like to put away the outdoor patio furniture, also clean and store the barbecue for another season.  Put away the patio lighting and place the awning back into it's roll up position.  This way we can just pull it in and out when we are up if we need to use it.  Last year we ended up having to put it away damp, and I do not like doing that.
So this morning I will try and relax on the drive home, and think of the projects that need to be worked on this week, list in hand.  I take wonderful dictation, trouble is, it's hard to decipher sometimes. my attempt at some humour this morning! lol...  In all seriousness, these are all steps that are necessary for Susan and I to move forward as we are making our attempt at Building the Simple life...................

Saturday, 25 August 2012

Wind, rain, and Mr. Boots who can get any sleep around here!  Yes, it is a soggy morning in God's Country.  Boots has attempted to go out on patrol, at least three times this morning.  Well long enough to realize that it is still raining out, and he does not like wet fur!  So you guessed it, he now has an instant door man to Boots'. lol!
Nicole and Nathan arrived late last night, so now Boots has revolving doorman for his personal entertainment.  This looks like it will be a day that we will spend inside visiting with Nicole and Nathan.  Oh yes, of course there is Boots, we must not forget him!
So Boots has headed off to his loft and has laid down, this only lasted for a few moments.  He is now back, some how he thinks he should be the centre of attention.
The rest of the day is definitely going to be filled with relaxation and visiting and planing for Building the Simple life......................

Friday, 24 August 2012

Good morning from God's Country, I see they have posted a weather advisory, for the possibility of some thunder storms throughout the day!  And I was going to blame my increased headache activity on the fact, that I stayed up later than normal last night.  Or the possibility that I played nine holes of golf after supper last night!
Oh, well Boots has had his first rations this morning and is now guarding the western front.  I should go over there and poke him, and remind him that this duty is normally performed with ones eye's open. Yes, Nicole he stayed out with me at the camp fire.  Until I decided that it was time to retire to bed.  After all, that is what any good guard cat should do, is guard the hand that feed's him!  Boots is such a suck, so I shall let him have his little nap, for a job well done! lol...
Today I shall try and get the final clean up done around here before Susan's arrival back to God's Country.  Oh, oh, Boots just rolled off the back of the couch from his perch onto the cushions.  This happened just as the sun was clearing the trees, shook the whole fifth wheel!  Perhaps this is a sign from God that I might have fed him to much for breakfast, or maybe I worked him to hard in the performance of his duties last night.  You know guarding me!  Anyways Nicole, I have the picture on the iPhone to show you.  If you and Nathan get to tired you can always stop at home and spend the night, and come up early in the morning.  Just phone and let us know, there are a lot of moose , elk, and deer on the road between Blaine lake and here.  I am sure Boots will survive for one more night.
Back to some plans for today, nothing else special planed for myself.  Just going to let life lead us along, in other words, whatever Susan wants to do.  If that just means, golf cart rides, visiting friends, relaxing and socializing, or just acting like teenagers again, well that is what we shall do!  After all this is also part of Building the Simple life...............................

Thursday, 23 August 2012

One more night to sleep alone, then the love of my life shall return to God's Country!  Plus later tomorrow night, Boots' parents shall arrive for some vacation time here at the lake.
The last couple of days we have been having rolling thunder storms through the local area.  Not sure if they are related to the increased intensity of my headaches, or some of the final preparations I have been making for the fall shut down.
Today is the senior's golf tournament (60 year's and over).  I have a few years to go before I am eligible to enter.  Hopefully by then we can have these headaches under control.  It looks like it did not rain during the night, and I can see some clear patches in the sky.  Hopefully it will be a great day for the tournament!
Boots seems to have this built in alarm clock, and it's not always to fill his belly.  He doesn't even finish his breakfast,  Nicole!  "Yes," you heard me right, we finally filled up his empty belly!  No, I think he is to worried, that the big "orange" cat may try and sneak trough his "yard" in the morning!  Anyways he is currently out on patrol duties, getting his morning exercise.  Maybe that's what I should be doing too!
Today I have to finish gathering up my tools, that were used for different projects throughout the campground, and have them ready to return home.  They will be needed for projects at home, as we finish preparing the house for sale.  Susan and I shall try and finish these projects over the fall and winter months.  Some of these tools will return home with us this Sunday, and some will have to come home at the end of the long weekend in September.
Yes, there comes the sun over the clouds and the tree line.  Looks like God has answered my prayers for another beautiful day!  Now if I could only find that paper, perhaps I could spend some time on that list this afternoon.  Thinks that need to be done at home for Building the Simple life...........................

Wednesday, 22 August 2012

Good morning, not sure what today will bring.  There is a distinct pink glow on the eastern horizon, some clouds, and some clear sky's.  Hopefully it will be another gorgeous day for us.
Boots has had his first breakfast and is now out on his morning patrol.  At four forty-five this morning he chose to go a bit crazy, waking me up.  Then looking up through the bedroom vent as the geese were flying overhead, calling out as they were taking off from the lake, to head out to the local wheat and barley fields, for their morning feedings.  This was probably why he has been trying to get back into, what I thought was his normal routine!  We shall blame it on the geese, ok Mr., Boots.
This morning I plan on hitting the "links" early, this way I might be able to play a couple of holes of golf before breakfast.  We shall see how my headache is doing at that time.  After that, I still have to spend a half hour or so in the carriage house, never did get around to it yesterday.  No excuses, I just forgot.  Darned memory!
Hopefully the weather will be nice when Donald returns this weekend and I will cut my grass on Saturday morning, at this time of year it only needs to be cut once a week.  The rest of my day will be spent visiting and starting to work on the list for home.  Yes the list for things that have to be completed at home before winter sets in.  The outside yard work, not much has to be done here, just final touch ups, so the house will be ready for sale in the spring.  The real projects are inside, with the completion of the bathroom projects!  Some painting, and trim work at the back entrance.
Like I said, I need to start on the list.  This is my reality check, Susan and I have pretty much accomplished every thing here at the lake, so now it is time to get ready to start again with our other projects at home.  After all, how else will we ever accomplish our goal of Building the Simple life.......................

Tuesday, 21 August 2012

Good morning, I think!  Boots started in on me at five am.  I believe he must be preparing himself for the arrival of his mommy and daddy, they are early risers.  They have their gym routines in the mornings, showers etc., before they are off to work.  Naturally Boots, has to be up with them to fit in with there schedules.  Just when I thought I was getting him trained with a bit of balance, he has reverted back to his, let's see if I can push the limits again attitude.   Which he performs so politely,  well at least I have taught him some manners during his stay this year.  He has learned to pray before his meals, non denominational.  We would not want to force any religion upon a cat.  This is for Nicole's benefit, after all she works in a public office, and she could not display supporting one religion over another.
Boots has learned how he must stay in shape, by climbing things, such as fifth wheels, campers and trailers.  He has learned this by problem solving, and then just getting the job done.  At times he has got himself stuck, where I've had to walk over, and said silly boy, come here let me show you how to get down.  But show him once, and you do not have to show him again!  He likes to sit up high, and guard our camp site, from the big evil orange tom-cat, that usually kills the local litter of kittens every year.  This is even when we have found homes for them.  A few years ago Boots, and the Tom tangled, it was more or less a draw, perhaps Boots got the worse of it.  This year Boots had him in a death grip, when I broke it up!  Now when Boots is out, the Tom stays on the other side of the street, not daring to cross onto our side of the block.
Boots has done his morning patrol, so I should let him in for his second set of rations.  After all he, definitely has earned them this summer!
The sun is shinning through the window this morning, it looks like it will be another gorgeous day again.  I never did get any golf in yesterday, it turned out to be just a relaxation day for me.  Just a bit to hot, to really try and do any thing at all.  This morning before the world comes alive, I've been contemplating the idea of going out, and playing a couple of holes of golf!  This afternoon I should spend twenty minutes or so finishing the sorting of things in the carriage house.  Then all jobs will be ready for the fall, WOW!  Perhaps this will be the first year that close up will go smoothly?  Yes, after the long weekend, there is still the patio furniture to clean and put away, and the same goes for the barbecue.  But these are things that will be accomplished on the first warm afternoon, after Nicole and Nathan have returned to Calgary with Boots.
Susan and I will still return to the lake for many more of her day's off, until old man winter decides to show his face, at which time we will do the final shut down and winterization.  This process is accomplished in a matter of hours.  But let's not get ahead of ourselves, it's still summer so let's get out side and enjoy this time of year, at Building the Simple life..................................................

Monday, 20 August 2012

Good morning from God's country!  Boot's has had his first breakfast and is out on his first morning patrol, this consists of checking out the neighbours deck.  Just in case, they forgot to put any food away!  Not sure when he will learn, that they are used to all the wild animals around.  So if food is put out, it will be given directly to him!  Crazy cat..
There appears to be a bit of haze in the sky this morning, almost as if the fall harvest has begun.  I think it might be a bit early, but then again some farmers did get their crops in very early this spring.  I will have to wait for an update from Donald when he returns next weekend.
Our big golf tournament went off this weekend, with the usual fanfare.  Hopefully everyone that participated had a great time.  I avoided the noise and confusion as my headache was at a sustained high level, and felt the added fanfare would not do it any good.  This allowed me to spend some great quality time with Susan.  Just relaxing and enjoying each others company, something we really have not had a lot of time to do this summer.  There always seemed like there was something we had to rush and do, well not this weekend!  And it was a very short weekend to boot, go figure.
Soon I will have to go and make sure Susan is awake, to have her shower.  This is so she can get ready to go back to the big city for another five days of work.  Then Susan get's her first paid vacation time in over a year, eleven days off with her best friend, "ME"!  And how do I know I am her best friend?  Who else would spend this quality time, taking me to two different dentist appointments.  Plus a Doctors appointment, and then start on cleaning out the front garage.  All this to help me out, instead of enjoying some time at the lake!
So I guess we have most of our projects caught up for now, so I will make a few attempts at golfing this week, oh yes this is the week I must fertilize my trees.  Other than that, my morning walks with Boots, if I can get him out on the wet grass.  He still does not like getting his feet wet!  There seems to be too much dew this time of year, perhaps we should make it an afternoon walk and interrupt his afternoon siesta!  If only I could train him to ride on the golf cart, he could check out the bush between my golf shots, maybe even find some of my old lost golf balls!
Oh oh Boots is knocking at the door, he has returned from parol duty early.  I should let the little guy in before he awakens Susan.  Judging by the time, she still has at least fifteen minutes of beauty rest remaining.  Anyways, Susan shall return Friday, when Boots' parent's shall arrive for a week's stay.  We plan on having rib supper with them saturday evening and then returning to the city early Sunday morning.  Hopefully we can accomplish all the appointments and work at home in a short week and then return to God's country where we can once again sit on the deck and enjoy Building the Simple life.........................

Sunday, 19 August 2012

Good morning every one, the love of my life arrived with fresh supplies for supper.  I made us Cosco dogs for supper, with fried onions.  They were great!
Boots has had both breakfast's this morning, done his morning patrols, times two and is now trying to figure what mischief he can get himself into now.
Today I plan on just relaxing with Susan, then maybe taking in some time down by the lake where we can talk about Building the Simple life................................

Saturday, 18 August 2012

Good morning from God's Country!  The cat is out of the bag. "eh" Nicole?  Nicole (Mickey Mouse) and her Husband are due with baby "M" on March ninth!  There how was that for me keeping a secret Nicole......  Love you guys, see you in a week, Dad!  Boots will be so excited.
Speaking of Boots, he is now meditating in his upper loft, so to speak.  Way to much excitement for the little guy yesterday.  With me out meeting new friends, and with Dave and Justina returning next door!  I am sure he has a very full tummy!  What might have been my first clue?  Well for starters, I was up first this morning, and Boots only wanted one, yes I said "One" breakfast".  Followed by a big stretch and a full sprawl out across the top of the couch, plop!  And he was fast asleep, snoring.  No time to even watch for the dreaded robins or even sparrows.  Even the big orange cat could have invaded our yard, and he would have missed the whole ordeal!  What's with that?  Well one good poke and the dead came to life only to go and end up in his loft position.  If there was such a thing as reincarnation, I would prefer to come back as Boots the cat!  LOL!  Oh such a life.  But I would miss golf.
Hopefully today I will finish up with my final sorting for the front cubby, then it will be onto planning the next stage of Building the Simple life.................................

Friday, 17 August 2012

Good morning from God's Country!  Just waiting for the sun to clear the tree line, to determine if I want to go and try my hand at a few holes of golf this morning.  The answer will probably be no, as I have not quite recovered from yesterdays headache yet!
So I just got back from a round of golf, worst score of my life!  Should have just stayed at home, oh well, live and learn.
Boots seems to feel sorry for me, perhaps that is because I am the only one here to feed him at this time.  I just picked him up Nicole, to make room for him to see out this East facing window.  And holy cow I must be over feeding him, feels like he might have gained a pound or two,,,,, "sorry".  I am sure it is all, "Muscle", as he has been working out all summer protecting the camp ground from intruders!!  You know the dreaded robins, sparrows, and especially the big orange cat that got the better of him a few summers ago.  That Boots now puts the run on, to every ones enjoyment, especially the cabin owners in the park!  They seem to think that they would like to hire him to come over to patrol their neck of the woods, which I replied " he is not for hire".
This afternoon I will make another attempt at doing some more sorting of items for the front cubby, though I am pretty much caught up for now.  Our next stage of getting ready for winter will be after Nicole and Nathan leave with Boots.  That is when we will clean and store our patio furniture, and put the barbecue away for the winter.  After this we will still come up for Susan's days off, until the weather turns to winter at which time we will finish with the final stages of winterization.
So this afternoon I plan on some relaxation on the deck and some dreams about Building the Simple life........................................

Thursday, 16 August 2012

Looks like it could be a great day outside today!  I never did get around to working on that front cubby, instead I dressed warmly and tried my hand at nine holes of golf.  We just will not talk about it to much.  Twenty minutes after I was finished and my headache had spiked, some of the comments were, are you high on weed, or on a new form of drug therapy, or something new the doctors have you on!  I guess my eyes were huge and round from the pain I was in.
Boots has had his first breakfast and is comfortably guarding the western front!  Today I will try and get to sorting out things for the front cubby so that job will be out of the way.  When things dry out this afternoon, I will make an attempt at cutting some grass.  Though at this time of year it does not grow very fast, and probably could wait until Saturday.
Time to go and make myself some breakfast, and figure out what else I can do today to help accomplish my goal of Building the Simple life...................................

Wednesday, 15 August 2012

And, so once again a new day has begun at God's Country!  Yesterday I managed to finish with the washing of the fifth wheel in the rain, God does such a splendid job of rinsing the spots I might miss!  The result of this activity was one of my worst sleeps in months.  I guess this will be a lesson well learned!
Boots has had his first breakfast and is standing guard at his usual perch on the eastern front.  I hate to tell him his friend that works in the park, is on the late shift this week.  Possibly, the vehicle traffic will keep him entertained this morning.
Today I think I will start sorting and putting away the beach toys in the front cubby and anything else that will not be used until next season.  If this light breeze keeps up, I may go out and try my hand at a couple of holes of golf, time will tell.  Any ways it's time to feed Boots his second breakfast, and time to see what I should make for mine.  After all this is part of Building the Simple life...........................

Tuesday, 14 August 2012

I guess we had more rain last night, yup that's exactly what it looks like outside.  Hopefully the sun will try and show it's face later in the day, as I would like to try and finish washing the walls of the fifth wheel down.  If not, it is a project that will keep until tomorrow.  I could resume sorting the beach toys, and things that need to be stored until next season in the front cubby.
After the long weekend in September, Susan and I will only be back to the lake on her days off, to enjoy the fall season and slowly finish shutting down for another year.  This is basically winterizing and putting in the slides, which we do in about two hours.  The final few weekends we usually spend on walks, or indoors reading books, or just reminiscing on the past summer.  A very peaceful time of the year for us, to also to make plans, for the gathering of our children at home, for thanksgiving.
Well Boots has been out on patrol, and had both of his breakfast's this morning.  Oh what do I hear?  Susan grumbling something about a whole king size bed to sleep on, and you have to come sleep on top of me?  But she will miss him, (Boots) so much when he returns to calgary, with our daughter Nicole.  Yes, even Boots' summer vacation is coming to an end!  Hmm, I wonder if Nathan and Nicole will make Boots continue with his good manners, of bowing and praying before his meals?  Something he has picked up at my house this summer!
The clouds have broken up to the east, and the sun has tried to briefly shine through this morning.  Such an encouraging sign from above, possibly if this trend continues we may still get some of those sunny periods they were talking about for this afternoon.  On the other hand, a look over my shoulder to the west, and it looks like there are some major thunder clouds moving in!  Looks like they are getting ready to drop some great amounts of precipitation upon us, perhaps we will get lucky and they will pass us by.
I think I will spend today sorting, that way if it does rain, I will be protected by the awning, and I will not have to worry about the occasional rain drop.  This will equal, less stress, less of a headache!
This morning Donald and Darlene are off to the big city, for Doctor's appointment's.  It's their turn, lol!  They shall return right after, to God's Country, some how they picked a great day to do this!  You know, a cloudy, damp, and wet day.  Let's "HOPE and PRAY" they are kind enough, to bring back the sunshine with them!  Then we all, can sit back, and relax at Building the Simple life.............................

Monday, 13 August 2012

The sun is up, Susan is back, and life is grand!  We had leftovers last night for supper that the kid's did not want to take home with them, so it was an easy supper for me to prepare for us last night.  God I love microwaves!
Boots has had his first breakfast, done his morning patrol, returned inside for his second breakfast and is now fast asleep with Susan in bed.  And the best part, is I did not feed him!  Yes, Susan got up to feed the little rascal both times, and let him in and out while I lay in bed.  I think she misses him, more than me!  Oh well, what's that saying... get over it.
Derek washed the roof of our fifth wheel yesterday, this involved a lot of scrubbing with the wash brush.  Like, I think he was over the roof at least three times.  Next spring before the awning goes out it will be done again.  And then again in mid summer.  This way we can get it back to just once a year, every year, mid summer project.  We will try and time it as a mid summer project when the kids are out, to trim the new growth on the tree's in the morning.  Followed by a full wash down of the roof and then the rest of the fifth wheel.  At the end of the day we can have our hot dogs and hamburgers, refreshments etc.,  Maybe, that family campfire song that we are supposed to be working on this winter will come alive, and be sung as group!!
Donald and Darlene arrived back at the lake shortly after Derek and his family left yesterday.  I think they have a full house, as some of their grandchildren are here to spend this week with them as well.  I guess I know where the campfires will be this week! Today I have to start pulling out some totes and sorting things that need to go into storage in the front storage until next season, yes this is part of Building the Simple life..............................

Good morning!  Anyone notice how much later the sun seems to be rising in the morning sky besides me?  Must be a sign that fall is sneaking up on us!  Yes, I know I have already started my preparations for winterizing things up here at God's Country.  This process actually started this year when we opened up!  Trying to make things easier, to be organized for the future.  So far so good, as the saying goes.  This year after the grandson's left for Alberta, the organization of certain beach toys and tote's they belong in has begun.  This process has begun early, as I seem still only get a small amount done each day.  Hopefully we will not be rushed in the fall for the final close up, and all will go smoothly.
Derek and Michele arrived yesterday morning with two of their daughters, the youngest brought along one of her friends.  So I spent most of yesterday at their camp site talking and visiting and eating.  Yes eating, boy am I full!  Still full this morning, I have to slow down on this eating thing or I will start gaining back all the weight I lost!  And I am invited over for breakfast this morning, omg!
Boots has had his first breakfast this morning and is out on patrol.  Yesterday while I was at Derek and Michele's, Boots finally got tired of the puppy's barking every time he wanted to visit, so he went and sat on their roof and awning of their fifth wheel!  The dogs could not see him up there, and this way he could be right there with us at the fire.  Well that was until he wanted to come down when it was quiet enough again and hoped onto Derek and then sat with Derek.  Boots wants to play with the puppies, he just does not like the barking noise!
After breakfast I believe Derek is going to wash the roof of my fifth wheel off.  I have all the supplies and equipment here for the job, it should only take us a matter of about forty-five minutes, then all my major summer projects will be completed for this year!  "YES" talk about Building the Simple life................................

Saturday, 11 August 2012

Good morning from Gods Country!  Just took my morning med's, fed Boots and sent him out the door on this morning patrol.  It appears to be a bit cloudy outside this morning, perhaps the sun will have a bit more trouble burning off this layer of cloud than it did yesterday, time will tell.  According to the weather app's on my iPhone the sun should appear around eight am., and then be on and off again for most of the day.  With numerous chances for thunder storm's throughout the day!
Derek and most of his family should arrive at the lake today.  Hopefully the weather will be nice enough that we can wash the roof of the fifth wheel.  Either today, or first thing tomorrow morning, a job that should be done every summer season.  Especially when you are parked amongst pine trees, considering the amount of needles and sap that they shed.  All the branches were trimmed back by Dwayne, thanks again Dwayne.  I mean really trimmed back, hopefully no needles for a few years again, now the roof just needs a good cleaning with the brush and rubber roof cleaner I bought especially for the fifth wheel roof!
Yesterday when I talked with Susan I asked her on her return trip to God's country to please bring my good reading glasses, as I had just broken my store bought one's, oops!  For some reason she thought it was not a good idea to bring me a $400.00 pair of glasses to "destroy".  It seems I have a very poor track record with keeping glasses safe, and intact.  Go figure, that one!  I am sure my children will vouch for me on this one, "OK" maybe not!  Perhaps this explains why I always have bent and twisted glasses.  Maybe, if I tell her I will only use them for reading the "Holy Bible", my grandson's bought me, she will bring them up!  Good luck with that one, mean while I will keep reading with a piece of tape stuck to the right side of the glasses to help hold the lens in place.  And no, it will probably happen again.  More so, since I had the brain injury, but that is life.
I believe I hear Boots knocking at the door, it must be time for his second breakfast.  Yes, and time for me to start making mine, followed by some simple tasks at Building the Simple life............................

Friday, 10 August 2012

Good morning from God's Country!  I can see the sun will have to fight it's way through a thinly veiled layer of clouds this morning, well maybe more like a haze.  Hopefully this will burn off.
I started on my final level of pain medication yesterday morning, called my maintenance level.  So far the last two levels have only succeeded in making me a bit more dopy, more tired, and forgetful.  The headaches do not seem to be as bad, as long as I remain inactive.  But as soon as I start becoming active or become stressed out, try reading or thinking about something, such as problem solving.  Then wham, the headaches are back.  Worse than ever, go figure!  My neurologist wants me to try "Botox" a series of injections into muscle tissues around the head.  But this again has side effects!  Not sure where to go with this yet.
Boots has had his first breakfast this morning, and is now out on patrol!  One thing you have to admire about him is his persistence, especially when it comes to his stomach!  That is the one way he get's me back on schedule, no matter how bad a headache I might have.  Oh well, I have had my morning breakfast, and just remembered why, one should "NOT" have ones morning coffee, before brushing ones teeth!  Such a wonderful flavour, no wonder people can drink Tim Hortons coffee in the morning! That will be a "DOUBLE DOUBLE" please.  I think, I just discovered their secret ingredient!! My early morning sense of humour.
As the early morning dew dry's off of the grass, I will make an attempt to get some grass cut before it get's to hot outside, possibly even take the weed eater around and do some edge trimming.  Perhaps one could do the edge trimming today and finnish with the grass cutting tomorrow, this may be a better idea.  Anyways I will try not to give it to much thought today, time to give the brain a rest.  It to needs to relax so that we can cope and concentrate on Building the Simple life.............................

The sun came up this morning, and Susan had to leave for the city, so she could return to work this  afternoon.  The heat of the day was a bit to much for me today, so I spent most of the afternoon resting.
Boots seems to be enjoying the extra attention this evening, not much else to say hope to be more with it tomorrow and back to my regular routine, hopefully back to Building the Simple life.....................

Wednesday, 8 August 2012

Yesterdays trip to the big city took a lot out of me, still not back up and running at full steam in the mind department.  Hopefully by tomorrow i'll be back to my regular routine!  Sorry for the delays but not doing that well today so i'll talk with every one tomorrow.

Monday, 6 August 2012

Boots is off on his early morning patrol, after his first breakfast of course!  We would not want to see the poor baby go out into the wilderness, hungry now would we?
Today is shaping up to be a bit of a sad day for Susan and myself.  Our "grandson's" will be departing around ten am, with Mom and Dad, For Airdrie Alberta.  This will probably mean, we will not see each other again, until the Thanksgiving weekend.  When, hopefully the whole family shall gather at our house in the city.
Oh!  Things to do.  Susan has a big send off breakfast, planed for this morning!  Eggs, toast, bacon, pan fried potatoes, fruit, warmed up ribs, juice, coffee, water, cereal, milk, farmer sausage, and I am sure there is a lot of love, that is also mixed in there as well.  Not to mention, and I am sure I probably forgot to mention, a few items on the list.  But sometimes that is just the way life goes!  Anyways, no one will be able to say they left hungry.  Unless they just didn't show up!  My sense of humour for the day, lol.
As usual, around here things happen in stages.  The family that has the farthest to travel, is usually the first to leave.  Today looks like it will be the same as usual, with Jennifer's family off by ten am.  And Derek's family probably not having to leave until later in the day, maybe not until after an early supper.
Susan and I will return to the city tomorrow.  We both have Dentist appointments, and I have a Dr.'s appointment as well.  When we are done with these appointment's, we will pick up a few groceries and then return to God's Country.  Where we will again sit back, and practice Building the Simple life......................

Sunday, 5 August 2012

So, today is the last full day I will have the boys here at the lake.  Better known as "God's Country".  Where has the time gone?  It seems just like yesterday that they arrived.  So today we will continue to make the most of our time together.  Reluctantly, I now have to share my time with grandma, cousins and auntie and uncle's.
I believe there is a full day planed for the boys, including some mini golf, beach time (swimming), and some craft time at uncle Derek's and Auntie Michele's with their cousins.  Oh yes, let's not forget to bring our appetites for the pot luck supper at five.
Boots' schedule was thrown out of sorts this morning as he slept in.  Seven fifteen before I got up, and Boots had not noticed the time!  Poor baby, he missed his nemesis the big orange cat this morning!  He keeps going outside to check from his vantage point under his tree.  But to no avail, you snooze, you loose, I keep telling him.  Susan has just fed him his second breakfast, and yes you guessed it he is back outside to patrol the campsite, to assert his authority.
Two of our granddaughters just arrived and gave grandma a gift for the fifth wheel.  It say's "GRAND KIDS WELCOME HERE" guess what?  The tears were flowing again, I saw it yesterday.  My tears happened then!  Oh yes, it is already a permanent fixture (hanging up) in our rig!
Enough for me hogging the computer time today, Grandma needs to post some pictures.  And I need to get back to enjoying Building the Simple life..................

Saturday, 4 August 2012

The rain finally ended yesterday afternoon, and Dwayne with some minor guidance from moi, succeeded in trimming the trees above the fifth wheel and carriage house!  After this feat of balancing on Dwayne's part, especially when he was atop of the carriage house (shed).  Barefoot, as he was slipping to much with his hiking sandals on!  Anyways, the feat was accomplished without incident, to everyones satisfaction!  Afterwords Dwayne grilled Costco dog's to perfection for supper.  Between Dwayne's grilling he helped me cut branches to length, to be burned at a later date in our fire pit.
I may have created a monster out of Boots!  He rather enjoys getting up at five fifteen for a belly rub and then out the door in the morning.  The part he doesn't like is, waiting for his breakfast.  But after several attempts at knocking on the door, he has resigned himself to the task of sitting under his tree.  Oh, and by the way Nicole he just isn't waiting for the first cars of the morning to drive by, the big orange cat doesn't get to check out the garbage cans on this side of the street any more!  He stays clear of the entire camp ground,  Boots is "KING".  When Boots is out in the morning the big orange cat sees Boots crosses the street and hides from tree to tree until he clears our yard and fence, and Boots makes sure he does!
The sun is brightly shinning in the window this morning!  Yesterday was spent with board games and such!  Today I will be out on the links at eight am, trying my hand at golf with Dwayne.  Let's see how I manage at that!
I am real slow at getting things done, Michele an Shayla arrived at the lake yesterday suppertime.  I am just opening the pictures they dropped off to me now, "WOW"!  Graduation pictures they are gorgeous.  Thank you so much. I think I am going to cry, darn head injury.
Many other things will be happening here at the lake this weekend, such as Susan and Derek will be joining us this evening for the balance of the weekend.  I think there should be a couple of rounds of mini golf still on the agenda.  Definitely some beach time, and oh yes, a planed pot luck!  Just bring my appetite!!!!
So what else should I have to consider for this weekend?  Not sure, possibly another round of golf on Sunday.  All I know for sure, with the support of the family that is here with me, they will not let me over do things.  This way, I can keep things in perspective, and can slowly keep Building the Simple life..............................

Friday, 3 August 2012

Well I survived the challenges of yesterday, especially the rain!  The boys and I had our tour through the park, a walk out onto the dock, checked out the lake from near and far.  Toured through the campgrounds, checked out some of the cabins, helped load Donald's lawn mower.  He is taking it home and bringing up a newer one.  The old one is being retired, to cutting his alley back at home.  We then got in a round of mini golf, before the rain started to come down from the heavens above.  It then was a brisk walk back to the fifth wheel dodging rain drops, keeping in mind safety first.  Then it was the big decision of the morning.  What to have for lunch?  We ultimately decided on sandwiches, one cheese and summer sausage for Aiden.  And one cheese and pepperoni for Mikkel.  Bumpa, that's me had cheese.  Then it was time to clean up our dishes, and ourselves.  And a half hour of video games, and presto, Mom was back with Dad!!  Where did the time go??
So Boots is once again out on a morning patrol without his first breakfast!  He is not at all Impressed with me, though he is not knocking at the door yet.  It is relatively dry under his tree, so I guess for the present he is more or less content.  I have been keeping an eye on the time and have been wondering if he will come knocking at breakfast time.  So far he has been very good company for the boys, with no incidents.  Which has been very remarkable, even trying to lay in Mikkel's little lap!  When Grandma has not been here, the boys have been taking turns sleeping in grandmas bed.  Now normally Boots sleeps between my legs when grandma is not here.  But Boots has assumed it's his duty to sleep between the boys legs, when they sleep in Grandmas bed.  Thus he has become this great guard cat!
This morning Dwayne and I shall go down and make our reservations, for our T-off times this weekend.  His brother Brian will be here for a round of golf on Sunday.  And I hope to play nine holes on Saturday.
I have lot's of little projects to attend to this weekend, and with Dwayne's help, and God's co-operation in the weather department, we should be able to get a lot accomplished.  Anyways things are stacking up to be a very busy weekend for everyone up here, hopefully we can get as much done as possible.  Time will tell.  My main concern is to get some tree branches trimmed, and I could sure use my son-in-law's help.  He is just a bit taller than me, younger, stronger, and better looking???
Now, I might have earned those brownie points for the great help he always enjoys giving me!  That's the way I am learning, to enjoy some of what I have learned, as I am Building the Simple life....................

Thursday, 2 August 2012

Well this morning started off bright and early, Jennifer off to the big city to pick up Dwayne.  The boys staying here to look after Bumpa!  That's what my grandson's call me.  So after breakfast, we made a tour through the park and campgrounds, checked out the lake and dock.  Everything looked great then it was back through the camp grounds and over to Donald's to help load his lawn mower.
Next stop was back at our fifth wheel to park the golf cart, and then it was off to the mini golf to get a round of golf in before the rain came.  Boy did we time that just right!  We were just turning in our putters when it started to spit rain drops on us.  Talk about some good luck for a change.
Boots has had two trying mornings in a row, no breakfast at five fifteen.  Just a welcome mat out the door.  Boy does he behave at regular feeding times when he is allowed back in!  We shall see if I have made any progress with him tomorrow morning, on his fixation about trying to move up his breakfast feeding time.
It seems Jennifer put Dwayne to work cutting my field of hay at home (lawn).  Thank God he did!  It was raining by the time Susan got off of work today.  Thank you again, Dwayne!
We just finished an excellent supper, and guess what?  Yes, Dwayne is doing the dishes for everyone!!  He volunteered..   Three cheers for Dwayne "Yay"  Well it is really raining outside now so I guess it will be some rounds of charades, and then off to bed for me.  Where hopefully I can fall asleep and dream about Building the Simple life.............................

Wednesday, 1 August 2012

Today the sun is already up!  I started the day with a new strategy with Boots.  When he thought it was time to feed him, I got up and escorted him strait outside to commence his patrol duties.  This was without his first breakfast.  He did not look to happy, perhaps now he will understand, not to try and wake me before it is his feeding time.  Tomorrow morning will tell, if this strategy was successful or not.  Problem is, I lay in bed for an extra half hour, past his first feeding time just to make a point.  This only succeeded in making a later start to my day!
Boots is back inside has settled down, and graciously ate his first breakfast.  My grandsons are down on the floor playing video games, and Boots is sitting above them guarding them.  From what, only he knows.  Grandma is complaining of coming down with a cold/ fever, hope she does not give it to the rest of us.
Let's see I guess that means the boys and I will have to rearrange our schedules to suit ourselves today!  "Grandma" should stay in bed!  The vote is in.  Besides she has to return home today and look after herself so she can return to work tomorrow.  So let me think, today should consist of some more golf cart lessons, and then off to the practice green for some chipping and putting.
Not sure how the rest of the day will turn out, that is what the lake is all about.  Especially when the grandchildren are about!  Plans can change from moment to moment.  This is why we try and keep it very simple after all, that is why we are Building the Simple life.....................
