Yesterday when Susan returned home from work, she took me into the big city to 'Emergency' at one of our three hospitals there. Now they used to have a sign up saying waiting time at the three hospitals at emergency (to see a Dr.), it no longer exists. When I asked one of the volunteers what happened to it, he had never seen such a sign. But then replied he had only been there for about 2 months. Which I replied if it was going to be quicker at another hospital we would just drive over there. He had no answers for me. In there new efficiency process it took me 30 minutes to get checked in and assessed. this was when it wasn't even busy. Two people ahead off me when we arrived. signs up every where, if you are not satisfied with the time it's taking to see a Dr., talk to the person with the stop watch! no such person could be found. The next two hours were spent in a room with virtually no heat, luckily Susan and I both had our winter jackets and gloves on. Now I thought I had put a nail into my finger, through the nail, with a brad nailer the night before. While we were waiting I cut the nail back and it looked like the nail had gone in and sliced the nail, then and had shot straight back out. Meanwhile they had put me on a lower priority than people that were obviously coming in drunk, saying 'I think I might have fallen'. I went to the front desk and told them I couldn't wait any longer, I was already past my medication time, and my headache was a approaching a 10. If I didn't get out of there soon who knows perhaps Susan would have come unglued.
Back to my sign, I wonder what was their decision to take it down? Was it because they thought it was promoting a two tiered health care system? Those that could afford to drive to the next hospital got better service. I don't know, but I think it better utilized the resources we have in the health care system. I know in the past we have driven from one hospital to the next, why wait for three hours when one of the others is only a half or an hour wait. Saskatchewan the birthplace of publicly funded medical services in Canada and it has come to this? Perhaps they should have an app's for your phone so when you are heading for the hospital you could dial up and head for the one wit the least amount of wait time, thus improving the efficiency level of care in the system.
This morning I once again cleaned up this finger again, I think I am going to be very lucky. God must have been looking after me once again. It does appear that the brad nail went in and out through the nail, so somewhere on this floor is a nail for me to step on. I must vacuum today! Thus reducing the chance of a work related injury. Maybe I'm a bit paranoid, but I try to keep everyone healthy and happy. In this way we all can have some fun, as we work on Building the Simple life........................
