Plus two outside this morning, with a bit of rain and snow mix happening! Slowly, the fall has been pushing old man winter back! If this trend continues, soon even the alleys will be safe to travel, even with vehicles with bald tires.
When Susan and I returned from the city Sunday evening we noticed some Christmas decorations starting to appear throughout the neighbourhood. That is one thing that usually goes up fairly early around here, people take advantage of any nice day they can! I was looking at the long range forecast, and I would imagine that most people will have their outdoor displays done within the next two weeks. Perhaps I will try and set ours up one last time today, there is not that much to do. The upper lights are already up and plugged in, and the lower lights usually do not take that long to set up. If I don't finish today there is always tomorrow and the next day, etc..
Yesterday I started the prep work for the painting in the kitchen, still more to do today. I also cut the last three small base boards for the back entrance between the doors and set them in place. Hopefully they will get nailed and glued in the near future. The top of the pocket door was also trimmed out between the living room and kitchen, before my headache got the best of me!
Hopefully Susan will be able to give me a hand once again today, before she has to leave for her paid job. When this happens, I think I will putts around in the front garage, and organize my outside Christmas decorations. Perhaps things will go well and I will even get some of them set out, four to stake into the ground, and two sets of bells to hang on the front garage lights. There is a set of lights to put around the garage door, clips are permanently installed, and the same for the front door. I do have lights for the walk in garage door that we installed earlier this fall. The clips need to be installed, and I am not quite sure I am up to this task. You see I am a bit of a perfectionist, and these outdoor mini-lights can be a bit of a pain to get them perfectly aligned. We also have a tree in our front yard that now must be sixteen plus feet. We call it Nicole's tree or my tree. Why? When, Nicole was young she started it from a seed at school and brought it home, I basically threw it in the ground (I was on my way to work) where it grew to big! Had to get a tree spade in to transplant it, to try and save it. And have been fighting bugs disease etc., ever since! So since I have put an investment of time and energy into trying to keep Nicole's tree alive, I started calling it 'my' tree.
Hopefully the weather will be warm enough so I can put up the outdoor lights on "OUR TREE" one last year, as we celebrate Christmas! This is another thing I have learned, we cannot take the tree with us, so you have to learn to let go as you down size. A very important lesson at Building the Simple life......
